Co-Health Project
The City of Cockburn was one of four WA Local Governments to receive funding in the second round of the national Healthy Communities Initiative. The Co-Health Lifestyle Project will be launched in October followed by a Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Week in late Spring.
“We want to keep Australians well and out of hospital, and programs like Healthy
Communities help to fund programs that are established locally to best address local
health needs,” said the Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon. “The Cockburn City Council is one example where they are introducing tried and
tested physical activity and healthy eating programs to suit their local needs.”
People who are not working fulltime who would like to become more active, learn more about nutrition or simply lose a bit of weight will be able to join in some fun community activities and programs. The Co-Health program aims to be accessible to all, with travel, child-care, carer’s support and leave and culturally appropriate programs on offer. Watch this space for more about the program.
