Two schools in the City of Cockburn and eight other schools are helping the Department of Transport TSTS team by taking part in the Metro-wide TravelSmart to School pilot program. Yangebup Primary School and Mater Christi Catholic Primary School aim to relieve congestion, increase safety and keep kids fit by encouraging them to use active transport to get to school.

In Spring 2010 parents and carers at all schools in the City of Cockburn will have the opportunity to be trained to develop Walking School Bus programs for their schools. Information will be sent to schools in September 2010.
